Performance Management AND TRAINING

We view performance management as a strategic initiative that can operationalize the strategic plan, enabling the organization to achieve its strategic goals, while at the same time, providing a rewarding, developmental work environment that will attract, retain and motivate top employees.

We have developed the HRP Performance Management Kit ™ as the starting point to develop a performance management process that 'fits' each unique organizational culture and needs.

The Kit was developed by HRP through our research into Performance Management Best Practices, and our consulting experience in developing performance management programs.

Highlights of the Kit are as follows:

  • Based on Project Management Principles – including a project charter, high-level work breakdown structure, proven project work plan, stakeholder analysis, and role clarification. We involve stakeholder groups such as the project sponsor, design teams and other groups as appropriate for each step of the project work plan.
  • Communication and change management strategy
  • Includes interview guides to use as part of the diagnosis phase to conduct senior manager meetings, focus group sessions.
  • Includes a questionnaire that can be administered to a representative focus group of employees to learn about perceptions and the current readiness for a new performance management program etc.
  • Includes a learning and training component for design committee team members can be brought up to date very quickly on the latest trends in performance management and the research and 'body of knowledge' related to performance management that has evolved over the past few years.
  • Assesses organizational practices on goal setting – options on establishing measure, such as KPI’s, balanced scorecard.
  • Includes HRP's list of generic competencies that have been developed after our extensive research. These represent the 'best of the best' selection of competencies and may be used as a starting point in establishing an approach to developing competencies.
  • Opportunity to develop 360° Feedback mechanisms to gather feedback from a range of stakeholders
  • Includes sample performance management forms that were developed by HRP after our research. These forms represent the 'best of the best' of our review of forms and tools, and serve as the starting point for developing a customized performance management process.
  • A "Guide to Policy Development" for the design committee that provides the options available for each of the policy issues around performance management and the pros and cons of each. The facilitated process allows the design team to develop policies that reflect the desired culture.
  • Includes a training component to educate managers on the basics of performance management, such how to set goals, measure results, provide feedback to employees, deal with difficult performance issues
  • Additional tools and guidelines for Managers and Employees that may be used on an ongoing basis to manage the performance management program independently
  • Includes linkages to merit pay, compensation and incentive pay programs
